I’m currently at the
library of University of Lincoln on the first floor, and I’m using an iMac,
yay! This is just so wonderful, a whole new experience I have never seen
before!
Oh how lazy I am not
to write for such a long time, hence my bad writing style. What am I supposed
to write now? Oh yes, I should write something about the school, something easy
and familiar first before moving on to more difficult subjects. Alright, so the
library at my university is in fact not a big one, but it has one of the
socially widest networking to other university libraries. As far as I have researched,
it has connection to most popular websites for researchers, academics, and other
reliable sources of information and archives. Therefore, there is no need to be
worried when I couldn’t find the documents I need. Isn’t it great?
Entries to the
library is very simple, just like the one in Thailand where I had an internship
in March: All you need to do is just scan the barcode on the student card on a
fixed scanner and you are all set. In case you forgot to bring the library card, which
is your student ID, there is a machine which you could provide your detailed
when you registered at the university and received your temporary entrance
ticket to get access to the library. There are hundreds of high-tech and modern
computer brands such as iMac and Dell, all of which are securely modified and
cloud-based, so I could open any computer and continue to work on my last
progress without being afraid of losing important data. However, while using
these computers, you have to accept the policies and rules from the university,
including installing illegal software, spreading viruses, access to unwanted
websites etc. Well, I’m the one who becomes really strict when there are ground
rules, so I played the game with ease. No problem at all!
Speaking of books and
resources here, I guess I have found sufficient sources of information as well
as original documents to support my thesis so far. I’m not sure if I could make
a change in the dissertation, but up to now, everything has been fine. I
suddenly found a rare copy of a book about learning autonomy that is worth
reading and it would be one of the supporters for my claims. However, as I have
learned from previous research, as well as textbooks about research in general,
the golden rule is not to rely on only one source. This is quite true indeed. You
can never be too confident in your point of view and neglect others’ work and
expect people to recognise or praise you.
The weather here is
getting a bit colder now because of the heavy rain, but it would soon be back
to usual, as Lincolnshire’s average annual temperature ranges no less than 5C.
So, I’m not sure whether or not I could see snow or ice or snowflakes in this
very winter. Ah, I almost forgot this. People are starting their decoration for
upcoming events like Halloween and Christmas. To them, I suppose, those are big
holidays and has deeply-rooted in their culture, and that’s probably the reason
why I’ve been feeling quite a busy atmosphere recently. Tomorrow, I will pay a
visit to Lincoln Cathedral and the Lincoln Castle. This is my very first entry
following the same topic: “Days in Lincoln” in the blog, and I’m pretty sure
there are some flaws in my writing. In the next posts I’ll make it sound more
reader-friendly and there will be photos included for sure.
See you.
